Luxor Tours

Upper Egypt represented an independent kingdom at once and throughout the history, Thebes was usually chosen to be its capital and center of rule. Thebes is ancient name given to Luxor city that we know immediately. The city has a great amount of monuments and several interesting ancient sites at both banks the eastern and the western one. Luxor tours are fascinating due to the existence of the huge old temples designed by the ancient architects of Egypt and erected by its great workers.

Avenue of sphinxes - Karnak
Luxor Tours at the East bank:

As Luxor city is divided into two parts by the Nile River, we will find that the eastern side was agreed to have the cult temples, built by the kings to honor the major deities of ancient Egypt as the Egyptians at that time believed in polytheism. The best examples for such temples are the Karnak vicinity and Luxor temple which are still well preserved of their inscriptions and scenes whose colors are still vivid at many of their parts.

Luxor Tours at the West bank of the Nile:

Since the ancient Egyptians believed in resurrection, they considered the west, where the Sun sets, as kingdom of death or rebirth. So they dedicated the west bank mainly to have their tombs, which can be found at the Valley of Kings, Valley of the Queens and Deir el-Madina building and to the erection of their mortuary temples such as Deir Al Bahary, the Ramesseum and temple of Madinet Habu.

Being in Luxor, you could make other splendid tours to Aswan and Abu Simbel, you have the ability to travel to Hurghada by van to enjoy the Red Sea or to Cairo by flight or a sleeper train.
